Hereditary Spinal AtaxiaHereditary spinal ataxia refers to a condition affecting the posterior and lateral columns of the spinal cord. It occurs mostly in children, and typically starts out with ataxia in the lower extremities. This condition eventually makes its way to the upper extremities, at which point the patient may soon experience paralysis and severe contractions.

Patients with hereditary spinal ataxia may benefit from small doses of marijuana. For some patients, this may effectively ease the pain and discomfort associated with the condition.
